RFLers had a great first experience! Thanks...

Postby JasonStout » Mon Jan 30, 2006 1:32 am

Wow! What a fun weekend of racing!

Sat. I showed up with my 6 Race for Lifers and a hope that they would all be able to ride- and race.

The amazing production begain...I first was lent three sets of pads, 2 helmets, (and a partridge...) and a chest protector from BRUCE RITTER.

The next help came from CURTIS NEWKIRK as he lent Bennett's bike to a 7 year old big wheel rider. Jesse took 7 laps and a 2nd in a big wheel race. The RAD CANYON crew made his night with a huge trophy!

MATT SPENCER then approached me and asked if we had enough bikes and helmets. He then lent Lindsey's awesome supercross 20" to Jaden. A RFLer who was almost lapped! :) He had a blast. I think this little guy wore himself out on the track taking all 3 practice sessions and as many laps as he could. He pedaled the whole track over 10 times! He didn't make his main- but had fun. He really had a good time on that bike thanks again MATT SPENCER!

LEE GEDDINGS offerd his bike and helmet for a RFLer Paul. Paul had a great time amoung the 22 riders in his 28 + moto! What a group! Thanks Lee! You're the kind of guy Ogden would need as a TO! Thanks for stepping up and helping out in staging.

DAVE WILLIAMS lent his helmet to my buddy Conrad. RICK EGLINTINE (sp?) lent his 20" to the same guy. This rider and Rick's bike came in 5th place in the SEMI final- OOOOH- Just on the bubble! Thanks you guys!

DAN PATTERSON built a cruiser from scratch for Amy. This asian sensation and the aforementioned bike made the main and ended up 3rd in the 31-35 ladies cruiser race. Dan also coached and mentored some of my RFLers! Dan, Congrats on your win Saturday. You took it to ol' Mike n' Matt!

My pit crew JONETTE,SAM, and my sister D. J. also need a thanks thrown at them. Thanks for filming, hydrating, encouraging, and sticking around for a solid 8 hours! You guys are tops! Welcome to my world! ;)

My RFLers all expressed amazement to the entire STAFF at RAD CANYON for the help they received when they needed it. Registration, staging, moto posting, new rider meetings, and crashing- they had help every step of the way. We only had one rider miss a moto all race! Not bad!

Thanks for making this day a fun experience for the RFLers I brought. They have expressed interest in returning and racing in the near future!

ANYTIME...ANYWHERE...ANY TRACK! That's what it's all about.

Glad to hear all the racers had a good time. Thanks for bringing them out and introducing them to the greatest family sport on earth.

Hey Jason, I talked with Paul about Austin and Ashlee's bikes. After thinking a little more, I have a better  . I'm going to be getting Austin & Ashlee new bikes within a month or so (gotta wait for that tax return  ) and would love nothing more than to pass their bikes down to a new rider. Please let Paul know that if he is interested, all he has to do is get his 2 boys a year membership and the bikes are his...that's $90 for race ready BMX bikes!!! We'll talk more about it at the next indoor.

I hope everybody had a great weekend. I know the Geddo's did. Austin picked up wins 15, 16 & 17 :D . I better get him to a national or two before he turns Expert. Take care everybody and I hope to see all of you again in two weeks!

Lee

Jason - I only wish I had a bigger bike for him to ride on! Paul seemed like he had a really good time and it was great to meet him.

"GET OUTTA MY BARN! GEDDO! YOU ARE THE MAN!"

Paul and I were just talking on the phone, trying to figure out a way to get him and his 3 boys into his sport...I went online, read this opportunity, and told Paul about it while he was on the phone. WE ARE BOTH FREAKING OUT ABOUT THE WHOLE DEAL! Thank you so much for helping out- Lee!

Paul, Josh, Jaden, and Jesse... welcome to the bmx family. What an amazing opportunity.

I believe Paul may be interested in your bike Lee. We are still trying to fit all 3 of his kids into bikes. This is an amazing start! This will help with that initial entry barrier of getting bikes, helmets, pads, ABA memberships, etc...

Thanks so much for the huge boost!

THANK YOU everyone that helped make the RFL such a great experience for me and my boys. Everyone was so great! I can't get over how helpful and generous everyone was with us.

My boys LOVED the experience and they can't wait to ride again. Jesse (7) got a little trophey doing big wheels. He can't get enough of his trophey. I saw him buffing it yesterday and he put it on the fireplace mantel - front and center.

The boys and I are so excited about getting into this great sport and joining such a great group of people!

Lee,
I'm so stoked. Thank you so much for your help in getting us into the family and sport of BMX! :D
