to trophy or not trophy

I was just reading some posts on VBMX, and it seems that there are tracks that offer a perpetual plaque instead of trophies. You get 1-3 place, and you can choose between trophy, engraved plate for on your plaque, or track bucks.

I know that for new riders and younger riders, it is still very cool to get trophies. So I think that is always good to have available.

track bucks are great for older riders or very experienced riders, who just don't want another trophy.

But there seems to be a need for something inbetween. I'll just use my son as an example, although he has never really said anything about the subject. Spencer is at the point the he just doesn't want another trophy unless it is from a big race or national. BUT, I think he likes to have something to show for his efforts. When he takes track bucks, yes it helps me out with entrance fees, but I don't think it gives him much satisfaction. I think it would be great to have the choice to get a plaque, and be able to mount maybe 10 or so plates to it designating the track and place he finished.

Seems like it would be good for the track as they could increase proffits slightly, and still give the riders what they want.

What do all of you think? good or bad idea?
