9.5 :)

RAD is RAD!

But to be more specific:

RAD has a great group of volunteers, who keep the track in TOP shape and help things run smooth. The races always start on time and run quickly and efficiently without large amounts of downtime. The facility is always well kept and well organized to benefit the riders and spectators.

Keep up the great work, RAD and it's volunteers are what's GREAT about BMX!

The track itself? If 10 is the best, what track would be rated a 10? People have different tastes & what a 10 is to you might not be a 10 to me.

I think RC has never lived up to its potential since it's opening, that's the track mind you. The facility is a 10 all the way. This years design is probebly the best since 96' but I really don't like a few parts of the track, but that's me.

Right now I'd rate it an 8 on the bnd scale.

I have raced at alot of tracks nation wide and rad canyon ranks in the top group for sure. I think the last two straights are better than last year. And the first is ten times better, you acually have to pedal after the first jump, hippee! I like the second the most. fun and fast. I don't really like the first jump but you can't have it all. there is always something on every track I don't like. thats racing!! who can adjust the the best. that is why I like Reno. everyone gets the same track time and you race it and see who is the best not who has the track wired because they have been riding it for months, AKA all the CA nationals I go to. my only big complaint is the cement pad RAD has for a gate, it's just not good for the guys with lots of horsepower. so if you can't beat me out of rads gate please don't try me in Reno,Delmar etc where you can lock in and rip!!! After all the rambling I give it a 9, fix the gate and I'll make it a 10.

I like BND's reply and track rating. Everybody is different and has different riding styles. People are going to rate the track on their opinion. Diversity..., ain't it great! The facility itself has got to be one of the best I've seen or been to. Give the facility a high 9. (There are no 10's. Nothing is perfect.) The track is run well and organized. Give that a 8. The track itself? It depends on who you ask. If your a Pro or an extremely skilled rider the track is right up there with a 9. If your a novice rider and fairly new to the sport, most likely a 5 or a 6. There are "good" riders who are afraid of this track. Not just locally, I mean Nationally! The track was built by the best with only the best in mind, with a "screw what everybody else thinks" attitude. I know, I heard those exact words, I was there at that time. Big deal, you say? Look who races there on a regular basis. Not many novice riders, is there? Think about it. We need novice riders too. Without novices where do our experts and pros come from. My personal opinion of the track? Smooth, nice flow, beauty corners, very nice gate, first jump blows, change that pile of .....dirt before the first corner relax the third strait. It's not the "Grands" 7,nuff said. Rich Hardy

I agree with allot that Rich had to say. Facility is a high 9, organization and the way races are ran, probably a 7 or 8, the track itself.....maybe a 7. I'd give it higher, but for my no skill riding I find it very hard to handle the 3rd staight (as evidenced by my recent 2 crashes in this section). The thing a like about the track is, even though I find it hard to navigate, is it challanges me. There is a fine line between making it too hard and making it challanging, and Rad is pushing the line of making it too hard, but like I said, I like to be challanged.

It's too bad there isn't a way to run two tracks side by side, maybe diferent nights, that has one that is at the level of the current Rad, and one that is easier to enable newer riders to work on fundamentals. I don't know how this would work, and maybe we already have that with the other local tracks, but the idea just popped into my head as I was typing...so there ya go.

Rating Rad

Postby mykidsbmx » Mon Jul 26, 2004 10:28 am

Okay...I'm not a rider, but can tell you what my kids think of it.

They love it! They'd rate it a 10! They have a blast on the track! They say it's tough!, you need stamina! The rythm section is a fav!

From a facility standpoint...It's a 10! The way they get through the mottos, great snack bar. Things run pretty smooth! Love that there are nice big bleachers for everyone! Love it, Love it, Love it!

Honestly only been to 8 tracks in the last year...but we love Rad the best!

(and their volunteers are outstanding!) :D

Hey jj just got back from arizona, as if your going to go out of town you have to see the other tracks right ? well I did anyway to see how they compare to rad and what their doing at their track that we might not be doing or that we could do to get better. let me tell you that Rad is a very nice track compared to other tracks and when you talk to other people out at the different tracks they tell you how nice rad is and that they will be here for next years national. but at 9-10 at night and all the guys in the stands (bald) are sitting there in 90 degree weather sweat pouring off their head just sitting, there has to be a problem the hot weather was unbareable, if it would have been in dec-feb the weather would have been perfect for racing, but anyway the tracks were nice (not as nice as rad) but ok they do about the same things as rad (except for the chicken dance) they have the same problems (people talking behind everyones back instead of just talking out the things that they have a problem with). hey as far as I'm concerned the reason that everyone runs a track is the same they love the sport of bmx, they love the kids, and they just want to make it fun, God how we love BMX. have a good one and see everyone out at the races.

It's so fun being different. I'm sure when out-of-staters come to RAD, they have fun watching the chicken dance, if not joining in!

I've only had a chance to race a few tracks. Boise, Tooele, Logan and RAD. I like RAD the best. I've heard so many say that it is one of the best anywhere. Great place, Great people, Great sport!

I'll agree that we here in the great state of UTAH, are spoiled with the quality of the tracks and facilities. Rad is hard to top. :D

I love Rad Canyon, but there are only a few tracks in Utah, so I cannot really rate it correctly.

I've only raced on about half a dozen tracks so it's not a fair judgement. Other people who have raced on dozens of tracks can probably rate this better, but here we go:

I really like Rad Canyon! It's an awsome track, and I like the volenteers (spell check?) alot. The atmosphere there is great, and i love it. (plus the snack bar food is edible! YES! :D ) The track itself is tougher than some tracks in the state, and because of the level of difficulty it makes you a better rider on other tracks.

My judgement may be different from others, but like i said earlier, if i had been to more tracks i could rate it better.
