Just thought I would let you all know that Razor City BMX in Gillette has finally kicked off the 2006 season with our first practice tonight. The board has been hitting all of the schools and many of the businesses with flyers from ABA about BMX throughout the last two weeks. We are really trying to get our membership numbers up this year. It seemed to work!! We had about 30-40 riders out for practice with quite a few new registers and renewals!!! You could really feel the buzz of excitement from everyone!
We also have a website this year. It is still in the process of being updated but is slow going since we don't have any computer wizzes in the group that know a lot about websites. The address is www.rcbmx.com It is in its early stages so keep checking back for updates to the site.
We have a big point weekend scheduled for July 7-9. We will have a single point on Friday, our Double point State Qualifier on Saturday, and the Redline Qualifier on Sunday. Be sure to mark it on your calendars and come visit. Steve built the track last year and as you all know he does a great job. The kids here all love the track!
We also have a supercamp scheduled for the following week in July! Unfortunately we were unable to get them the weekend of the big points so if you can't make it for the points come for the camp!
Our first race is scheduled after Easter. I will keep you all informed what is happening!

After having to schedule two practices due to weather we were finally able to hold another practice last night! The flyers we ordered from the ABA seem to be working. We signed up quite a few new riders again last night and had a another handful try the one-day membership. It is exciting to see so many new kids enjoying the sport. Our first race is next week. Does anyone have any suggestions on helping all of these new families and riders understand the moto system for our new race? I don't think we've ever had this many new riders all at once.
Thanks for your help!

We finally held our first race on Saturday! Both the weather and turnout were great.!! We had 60 riders in 14 motos so we were really pleased with the turnout. This is the earliest we have ever started racing in Gillette so we weren't sure what to expect. There were a couple of classes with 7 on the gate!!! Those were exciting races. The best part is one of those 7 man gates was our 9 girls class! I hear it was one of the best races of the day! (Unfortunately Teagon had a track meet the same day so I helped with registration while Clint went to the track meet, then we switced and he came back to announce while I went to the track meet.)
We are excited about the year and continue to sign people up every time we are at the track. After the races on Saturday we sold raffle tickets at Walmart and handed out brochures about BMX racing!! Sounds like we have more kids that are going to come try out the sport!
The problem at our track is we have lots of younger riders, but don't have many older riders. Any suggestions on how to encourage the older riders to come try the track?
Our next race is Tuesday, but we are getting hit with yet ANOTHER snowstorm! I will keep you all informed.

Yes Jason, that is the correct web address. We've been working hard doing a fund raiser for the track and getting our first few races and practices going, as well as focusing on promoting and signing up new members so unfortunately the website has taken a back seat. Our president David Bowles (who is doing an outstanding job) is trying to learn as he goes with the website so it is taking more time then expected to get it how he wants it, but I'm sure it will come around and be a work in progress throughout the summer.
We are still having excellent turnout for our races and continue to sign new people up every race!!! We are really excited about having so many new riders come out and enjoy the races! I will continue to update you all throughout the season.

I'd like to offer some help with the website if you want it.
I was trying to access the site so I could download the files, and possible put together something for you, but I wasn't able to access the site at all.
Let me know!
