Due to some issues with the radcanyon.com website, RAD Canyon has created a whole new domain:

www.radcanyonbmx.com

This new site will be hosted with a different company, which will give the site alot more interactivity it didn't have before. I have some great plans for the site, as it will be getting a COMPLETE overhaul over the next few weeks.

I am always open to any comments or suggestions you may have, so please email or post with any info or feature you would like to see included in the site. Here's a couple I have planned:

• Full race calendar (with optional downloadable printable schedule)
• Email contact list (this will take the place of the email database Jason Melton used to send out BMX information)
• A news and information section on the FRONT page.
• Extensive picture pages showcasing the track and it's riders
• Volunteer Identification pages (pics and bios!!)
• A "Rider of the Month" page, complete with rider bio
• ... and more as time allows!

Well, the good thing about flying all the time is I've had some time to work on the site redesign on the plane.

Here's a sneak preview of the site. Obviously, it's not finished yet, but you'll get the idea of the overall layout. I need to finish up the colors, links, images... well, just about everything.

Alright, here's some thoughts...

Technical Layout:
Information is layed out well on the page.

Visual Appearance:
Needs a defined and recognizable color scheme. Since Rad Canyon's colors are Green, White, Black<--(?), that would probably be your best bet. Page seems a little <--enlarged--> for some reason... add some padding to the left and right of the page.

Links:
The right alignment is a little funky... add some "<STYLE>" to the links (if you know what I mean )

Red "topnews" bar:
Overflow off the page doesn't look too hot.. (happens in both FF and Konqueror)

Also, on your "wrapper" div, change your style sheet for #wrapper to this

Trav, thanks for the info!!

Since I've been doing this mostly during flights, I've had to use my work computer, so I haven't had a chance to test the page in Firefox, Opera, Netscape etc. Thanks for the heads up on the alignment issues.

I will be adding the color scheme soon, I've got a couple in mind including the green, white, black type scheme like the logo (which will also be added). I'm also working on some more rider images for the front page, one of which will sit at the top left of the page. I'd like to put the logo above the navigation links on the left side.

I've been trying to keep the overall layout "simple" and not too busy so the important information will be easy to find and read. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know!!

Well, I've made some tweeks and started uploading the pages as they are finished. You can now start checking out the pages at:

Obviously, there are some pages that are not uploaded yet, but are coming online soon. Also, I still need to "set" the color scheme, and upload a few images, including RAD's logo. There is also some behind the scenes CGI stuff that needs to be programmed.

As always, I'm open to any suggestions or comments about the site. Please let me know any thoughts!!

I'd like to do something a little different to incorporate your video's into the site.

Tell me what you think about this. I was planning on doing this with the pictures, so it doesn't take you to a whole new page when you click the link, but I haven't figured out the necessary programming yet.

If we use the basic structure of RAD's current site (masthead, navigation, footer), but use an IFRAME in the content area for your video page, or possible a streamlined version of the page (without the left had nagivation) for RAD video's. Kinda like the NEWS section on the front page, but obviously sized to the entire content area.

Let me know what you think. I'll be in CA all next week, so maybe we could put something in place (whichever way we want to go) next weekend?

Gallo: I understand what you are planning and envisioning; however, it would be, and is, pointless to recreate what has already been created. A simple link would be suffice. Along with that, the Rad Canyon website needs to support the other sites that are avaliable to BMX racers in Utah and show what is entirely avaliable to and for all riders on the web rather that having it all in one. What we have now is what we have. We don't need to reinvent the wheel...
