A Dream Finally Realized....

Yesterday I finally fulfilled a dream of mine for the last couple years.

I am now the proud owner of a Yakima roof rack! No more assembling/disassembling of bikes to fit inside my 4 door car. I picked up this rack used, complete with 2 cobra bike trays.

Just remember your bikes are on there when you pull into the garage :shock:

I pulled that trick. Pulled into the garage to vacuum out my car and my bikes ended up on my trunk. Luckily the rack wasn't as damaged as the car. My roof is full of big dents now. Oh well, at least I can still put my bikes up there.

I know. I'll have to be really careful about that, I'm so used to just driving straight into the garage when I get home from Tooele on Saturday nights, then unloading the next day.

I have done it no less than half a dozen times over the years without any real damage. The trick it to tighten down the load bars sufficiently enough that they don't move UNLESS you run the bikes into something. Remember: it is not a question of if, but when :)

I thought about it all the way home, and still tagged the garage. Fortunately, very minor damage as I was pulling in slow. Just pushed the rack back a couple inches and bent a tray (which I bent back).

I'm the true definition of a Utahrd......

Glad you got that lesson out of the way quickly. Males are creatures of habit and the only way to solve this situation is to think your bike is on the roof EVRY time you pull into the garage. This way you will at least consider whether your bike is up there whether it is or not :wink:
