Anyone else have that same stuggle?
I have a hard time getting out of the gate consistantly....
.......Does anyone else stuggle with that too?
I also have a hard time deciding what I'm gonna do over the triple step up...do I just pump and get on the gas on the back side? Do I try and pedal up the first, then pump? Do i try and pedal the whole thing?-Then there is that dropoff, do I keep pedaling, or do I pump that thing- Does anyone else stuggle with that too?
oh, oh, and then there is that little tiny table top that sends me so crazy sideways- I don't know what to do with it so I just pinch my knees together and hope I don't face plant at 26mph- which is the speed I hit that thing with....
the step up is just a candy corn set up for the biggest most "railable" corner ever!
I stuggled for about a month getting over the last double in the 2nd staight. The double jump into the step down is the talk of many people in the staging area. I had no trouble getting over that one- I think Bruce hase it on film the first time I raced my new SX cruiser I about tripled it and then ate crap shortly afterwards...I still say it was a good save. More often then not, I flat land that lippy double half way between the transition and the step-down part- I lose a lot of speed there, which may be why I get bucked over the roller before the last double....
The Rythmn section kicks my trash! The deep ones before the table get me every time....I think I rode them smooth once when I was racing Steve Spencer- I was in his smoothness bubble and it carried over-but it was just for that one lap....!
The last straight I also overclear that table- Tony Anderson taught me how to nose manual it, and that has helped a lot.
Does anyone else stuggle? I sure do!!!!
Come to think of it- that's why I go racing, because it is one big struggle! Struggle and Challenge are synonymns in my book! I hope I never dial the track in completely, it would just get boring. At Rad canyon, they have upped the standard of riding skills for many riders, so up yours! If the fear of crashing really hard would ever leave, then I'd go take up skydiving every Tuesday and Thursday nights! There is nothing like charging into a corner, or an obstacle surrounded by adrenaline junkies like myself, not knowing what may come of it! The uncertainty keeps me returning!
Peace

well said, Jason
I didn't really want to write a book about how much trouble I have, so I left it with a smart @$$ remark. You definately hit on some of the same problems I have, although your troubles come at much higher speeds then mine.
That dang little table down the first straight has bewildered me all year. At first, I was just trying to get my wheel up and over it, but always felt I was loosing too much speed. Then, I just said the heck with it, and started kind of jumping it (if you can call it that), but staying as low as possible. It seemed to get me through it much faster, but at a much higher "thrill level". It finally bit me a couple weeks ago and sent me straight into the step up. I'm bruised and sore down my whole right side still.
Anyway, I could just say that I have trouble with the whole track, but as you said, that is what makes me keep coming back. Even though I am not really competitive with anybody, it is the thrill of just pushing myself a little further each time that makes it so fun.

The first double kicks my butt or my chest pretty regularly. Last night I went over frontwards and backwards trying it different ways (lack of skill coupled with gusts of wind is bad). If I actually do jump the first double successfully then I have troubles with the second double going into the corner, of course I usually bonk the first one so my speed is so low it doesn't matter on the second. Next is the rythum, I don't have any. I think the last straight will be a challenge for me once I'm back in shape and can still be going fast by the time I get there. I agree with Greg and Jason, I love the challenge. I love trying to dial in each obstacle. Thanks
Steve S. for making a sweet tough but doable track.

feeling philosophical?
This thread has spawned a principle that may be obvious to others, but made me go- aha! I get it now. The reason we can all be friends in the stands, and in stagging is because our competition is-when it comes down to it, the track (and ourselves)! It's been said many times that racing is just a competition with yourself. I don't know about ya'll, but I like to displace the competition onto the track, or the stop watch, and not so much on to Spencer, Melton, and Oblad. They too have entered into the challenge to be their best selves that day!
I'm not counting out the element of competition at all. The conflict with the other riders leads to my own progress against the track!
Racing is cool! So is winning!-and so is riding the track smoother, faster, and better than you ever have in the past!
Peace
