Bike Changes

Anyone making any bike part changes (or whole bike changes)?

I took advantage of the 3 hours of sunshine this weekend and took my bike out to replace some parts.

I put on some Supercross handlebars with Dirtec brake lever. I also upgraded to Lizard Skins lock-on flangeless logo grips, man those things are NIIIIIIIIIICE!! (Thx I & H!!)

I also replaced my brakes with Odyssey A brakes with new pads.

I don't know if it was just being off my bike for awhile, but my front end seems SOOO much lighter. :)

Bring on the outdoor!

Bike Changes

On my 20" I switched my redline fork to a Supercross. I just replaced my Sinz cranks and Shimano square taper bottom bracket for an FSA Platimunm Pro Isis bb and FSA Cranks. I'm about to build new wheels hopefully Crupi hubs, Ti Spokes, and probably Rhino Lite Rims. That will depend on my wifes level of patience with me. Just wish I could ride somewhere.

Friday I picked up Bennett a Staats Mini Al frame and ordered a Scythe Mini fork. I am not sure what the built bike will weight, but the frame is 1.6 lb. and the fork .91. The geometry is much better than the insanely steep head tube angle on his Diamondback.

Dave, are you considering selling your old BB, cranks, & wheels? I may be interested as I really want to build up a 20" for myself.

Bryan is building me a PK Ripper. So far we have the frame and a landing gear fork and rims which I think are Arayas. All the other parts are in debate. It might be a few years before it's finished at the rate we're going.

Curtis,
Without trying too hard, you should have Bennett's bike under 12lbs, even close to 10lbs if you start shaving, drilling and cutting :P
It is possible.

I am building a micro-mini for my lil' guy (long-term project since he just barely turned 2) and I am shooting for under nine-pounds :shock:

Since Bennett and I are running the same district # (26), does that mean I can be your honorary son? I could use that same set up but in Pro Cruiser size! :) :wink:

Yes, Gallo, but you will be the redheaded step son who gets the old used stuff :lol:

Steve - I am thinking around 10 lb. as a sane weight :wink:

I purchased a new chain. I hadn't changed the one off of the Redline I bought from TP. It had like a gazillion dead links in it. It's like riding a whole new bike.

I also took a link out of the chain on my cruiser. I wanted to move the back wheel up a little. I think I'm ready to spend more time on the back wheel!

I also did some work on the spokes of my wheels. They had loosed up a little. Now they are tight and strong!

I also bought a number so it almost looks like a real number plate. I know ya'll won't recognize me with a real number on a plastic plate!
