My kid would be willing to be the example. Dave hit all the points we talked about. I would like to add parent rules too.
 how to assist your rider in the gate
 no assisting riders over 5
 staying away from the finish line and off the track.
And possibly some others and also explain why the rules are that way. I remember a mother screaming at an official because he just ruined any chance of her kid being a success because he was dq,d for cutting a corner and she knew this because she was a teacher.
Veteran parents forget how confusing it is at first. Count us in to help.

I second any kind of rider safety content you can come up with and make interesting. It would be really interesting do a review of accommodations at the various races around the state. For example, which Salt Lake City hotels are the most rider friendly? It would take a lot of the guess work out of picking a place to stay and we could even start arranging ways for everybody to convene at the same, hospitable place.

Unforunately I won't be able to make it to the races this weekend, so the new rider training video will have to take place at a later date.

We've got some exciting podcasts in the works:

- laketown bicycles
- COG - Dave & B2
- Interviews with Robby Patterson and Tommy Zula
- interviews with Jonas Harmon

And here are some more ideas (thanks for the suggestions) that haven't quite materialized yet:

- Wild Bill's BMX - choosing the right bike
- history of UtahBMX.com - past, present and future with bnd, jalvey, and others involved in the process
- attending your first national - what to expect, how to prepare - expert needed
- welcome to BMX racing in Utah (commercial to start racing BMX in Utah)
- life as a track operator - interview our TOs and give the rest of Utah some insight into their world: their challenges, joys, frustrations, successes, what has led to their success

- new riders and parents - get the perspective of new riders & parents and interview a few of them. What do they like about BMX, how they got started, what could be improved for the parents
- podcast for noobies - part 1 - what to expect on your first race: bike requirements, atmosphere, cost, equipment, rules, etiquette, sportsmanship (for riders and supporters) - Jason Melton, experts needed
- podcast for noobies - part 2 - registering, how to read a moto sheet, rules, rider safety
- podcast for noobies - part 3 - staging, lining up in the gate, importance of numbers, round 2, quarters, semis, etc.
- podcast for noobies - part 4 - points, numbers, plates, etc

- Hilight of each of utah's BMX tracks - info, pictures, layouts, unique things (like Roland's BBQs)
- interviews with more of Utah's top riders
- Utah BMX teams - an interview with each team manager. Talk about what it takes to get on their team, what their focus is, etc.

I plan to add the following elements to each podcast:
- a "tip of the day" at the end of each video
- Announcements: update of Utah riders at nationals and their standings, recent transfers, upcoming events to mark on your calendars (I need help gathering this info)

I'm using this thread as a place to brainstorm and keep my notes in one place, as well as gather input from all of you. I think I need to outline some objectives of the podcast to keep me focused.

This podcast will be considered a success if:
- it keeps people in the loop regarding what's going on with BMX in Utah
- it encourages a sense of community in Utah BMX (clean language, positive comments, no bad-mouthing others)
- it is fun to create and fun to watch
- it promotes growth in the Utah BMX scene
- it educates people about BMX in Utah
- it is easy to find past podcasts and find the info you're looking for
- people watch it

Target Audiences:
- all ages, all proficiencies from noob to expert
- BMX racers in Utah (primary)
- BMX racers outside of Utah (secondary)
- non-BMX racers who are interested in learning more about BMX (secondary)

Frequency:
I'll update with a new podcast whenever I feel like it. I'd like to keep them fresh and get a new podcast every two or three weeks, but I don't want a deadline for each podcast or it'll start to feel like a job.

Categories for podcasts:

Noobs:
- info for noobs, how-to's, help video to get them started

Rider Interviews:
- interviews with experts/pros

Industry Interviews:
- shops, companies,

Track Interviews:
- To's, builders, etc.

I just finished editing episode 2 of the podcast last night. It'll be live on YouTube around 3 PM today (it's a long 20 min one). The topic is: GoPro tips and tricks for BMX. I know it doesn't apply to everyone, but I know a lot of kids (and adults) who got GoPros for Christmas and they're still learning how to use them.

I'll post the link when it's live.

Thanks for the reminder Billy. I've got about 6 videos I still need to edit, and that's one of 'em. I wasn't going to work on it because I didn't think anyone would want to watch it, but now that I know it'll have an audience, I'll see if I can get something edited by early next week.

I just buttoned up a great video interview with Will and BJ of Laketown Bicycles. Thanks guys. That'll be posted in a week or two.

I'll get it going. My thesis is due this week, so I'm pretty busy with that, but I think I can squeeze in a quick edit.

Speaking of edits, episode 2 is live.

I figured I'd interview myself and talk about the only thing I know even a little bit about: filming with a GoPro. If you don't have a GoPro, or you'll never film with one, this podcast will be really boring for you. If you or a friend has one, you may enjoy it.
