28-35 Class Happenings
Re: 28-35 Novice Class Happenings
The guy on the red bike that only races cruiser is Jeff Mantels. He used to race a bunch and quit. He only races cruiser because he is super scary on his 20.

Hey,

See you there Brett, glad your shoulder is getting better.
Brett and I got tangled up in turn 2 during the main. Unfortunately Brett got the worst end of it, he was on track to finish 2nd. Sorry Brett, looking forward to seeing you get a strong finish this weekend.

Re: 28-35 Class Happenings
I'm pumped for this weekend's races. Hope to see you all there.
Re: 28-35 Class Happenings
I will be there tonight although in the old guys class above you. I am the guy with a white bike with red pedals and grips. I will also be the guy sucking air and trying to catch up from the back of the pack . This will be my 5 yr old and I first racing experience. We are both pretty excited.

sweet, welcome! You won't be the only guy sucking air at the back of the pack, that sounds a lot like me
I'm the only dude riding a pink bike. Be sure to say hi.

Awesome turn out tonight, We really do have a good group of people in our class, good sports and good racers. The nice thing is it is always anyone's race with this group. And i did not crash tonight, yay!!!

You must be one of the only 3 or 4 that didn't get tangled up in the main. It was the most contact I've had in a race. Getting squeezed on both sides right out of the gate, elbows everywhere. Tons of fun though and it was way cool to have so many in the group.
Welcome to the two new guys racing in the class (sorry I've already forgot your names.) And welcome to Pete who came all they way from Boise.
I imagine we'll have an even bigger turn out tomorrow.

Tonight was AWESOME!! Despite being muscled off the track, I had a great time. I've got footage of the main, filmed by my cousins wife. It focuses on me towards the end of the race, but you do see Steve lose his pedal in the rhythm, but you miss him hitting the ground.
I'm not even sure who won the race??
We had 12 riders turn out, separated into 2 motos.
Moto 45
BJ Barkley
Pete Kilpatrick
Logan Phipps
Jason Swanson
Brett Perkins
Jeremy Kerr
Moto 46
Myles Cooley
Hunter Hendrickson
Todd Worthington
Michael Hansen
Jared Wilkinson
Steve Hulme
Main
Logan Phipps
Jeremy Kerr
Myles Cooley
Hunter Hendrickson
Todd Worthington
Steve Hulme
Pete Kilpatrick
??
I went down after clipping Myles' rear tire, and Steve obviously came off his pedal.
I'll send the video to anybody who can post it here. I've never posted on youtube, so Steve, I'm looking at you here!

Re: 28-35 Class Happenings
I love our class! That was my funnest race yet, and I came in dead last I swear I'm not as squirrely as I seem. I'm pretty sure I slipped a pedal in the rhythm and just went down from there. I'm glad I didn't hurt anyone. I apologize to those who I hit on my way down.
Is it obvious that I slipped a pedal? That's the only thing I can imagine happening. I've got a nice bruise on my knee that I can only assume is from a pedal. All i remember is pumping hard through the rhythm to try to catch Jeremy (fat chance of that) then all of a sudden I sat down on my seat hard, my feet weren't on the pedals, and it bucked me all over the place for the last few whoops. I was surprised that I didn't go down sooner, but I wasn't able to regain it at the last second, and I ended up going down. I've gotta see that footage again.
I assume it was Jeremy. I was in second, and he was at least a bike length ahead of me, so unless he crashed, he won.
Time to learn Todd! It's super easy. Download the video to your computer. If you have a gmail or google account, then you have a youtube account. If you don't have a google account yet, it's time to get one. Uploading a video is super easy. Shoot me a pm or text if you need any help.
By far my favorite race I've ever been in. We are lucky to have such a huge class where so many of us are at similar skill levels. What a blast.

Re: 28-35 Class Happenings
rather than spend $50+ on new platform pedals, I'm going to start riding clips. I haven't been super confident lately with the grip on my pedals, and I like clips on my mtn bikes, so hopefully the transition isn't too bad. I think I'll ride 'em at the clinic tomorrow and see if I can get used to 'em.
