28-35 Class Happenings

We've got an awesome class in 28-35 Novice. Everyone I've met has been more than friendly, and we're all breathing heavily enough at the end of the race to have a heart-attack

I know some of your faces at the races, but I don't know your screen names or much about you. I figured this would be a good place to introduce yourself, chat about our motos each week, welcome new people to our class, and encourage others to join our growing class.

I'm steve. I started riding BMX as an adult on October 29th, 2011. I ride a pink supercross. I raced BMX about 4 times as a kid (10 - novice), then decided racing wasn't for me. I'm not a competitive person at all; in fact I hate competition (unless it's friendly competition with my buds). But I love racing in our class because everyone is so supportive and nice. I've ridden bikes my whole life (mostly mountain), but BMX is where it's at for me right now. I'm having a blast and I look forward to meeting more people in my class.

my goals in this sport are to compete in the next 4 olympic games and take home 2 gold medals at least

Actually, I just enjoy getting on the track and seeing if there's something new I can learn each week. If you're interested in starting racing, or have questions about our class, feel free to grab me at the races and ask away.

Logan here, aka Skew. Live in Davis County. Ride a gold Intense. Started racing bmx September of this year. Its something I've always wanted to do, so when my son expressed interest there was no stopping me. My son is Collin and he races with the 5 and under novice class. My seven year old daughter Sophie might start racing too----Anyone know a good deal on a junior bike?----.

So far its been an absolute blast. Its been great to share this sport with my son. Like Steve said the people at the races are totally supportive and cool.

My goal is to try to keep up with Steve as he keeps getting faster each race Actually that's one of the coolest things about our age class. Most of the riders have just started, and its exciting to see everyone progress from race to race. Its easy to see the skills advance within the group.

So lets hear from you other guys; Adam, Brett, BJ, Jeremy, Jared, Clayton (you can still hang with us even though you advanced to inter after the first race with us ) and anyone else out there.

Glad you found this thread Logan. We missed you last week. My buddy Will D is in our class too, but he hasn't made it to the races this past month. He was at the COG clinic though. Super tall guy on a GT Power Series XL.

Todd, I had totally forgotten it was your first race last week. Great job making the main on your first race!

Inters/experts are definitely welcome in this conversation since we'll all be inters in a year or two. Clayton is WAY fast.

Welcome Brandon. What kind of bike do you ride and what does your helmet look like so we can keep an eye out for you? I'm the only dude that rides a pink bike, so it won't be hard to spot me

Are you coming to Salina on Dec 4th, or will your first race be on Dec 10-12 at RAD?

I am still working on the bike situation. I have one in transit from St. George if everything works out right. My helmet is black, white and silver. My first race will be at RAD on Dec 9th. My 5 yr old son will also be entering his first race the novice class.

Should be a fun weekend!

awesome! If there's a clinic on the 9th, i highly recommend it. It really helps before the first race (but it's not necessary).

My 7 Novice (Gabe) and I both totally look forward to the races. I had a blast at my first races. The clinic just about did me in, but it was very helpful! It was great racing with Steve, and the other 3 guys. The guy I beat to make the mains was out for his first day as well. He was on a redline pro xl or xxl. I forget his name, but he was great to race with. We are right at the same level so it made for a great battle!

I'm looking forward to the next races at rad canyon, and am hoping to make it to salina in january.

I think the best thing about this sport is the camaraderie. If it would have been like this back in the late 90's, maybe I'd have stayed with it. It wasn't quite the same hanging out with no one and racing guys that weren't always very friendly. We should all feel lucky to have the program we do around here. I know I am. I've made alot of good friends through this sport, and I've even reconnected with some old ones. I'm sure to make more in the future, so if I could only figure how to race, maybe it would turn out to be even more perfect. Thanks all.
