In the past we have had alot of props given out to racers that stepped their game up over the season, the list can be long & yeah, a bunch of dedicated people did step it up......but who made the biggest improvement this year?
Name 1 guy & 1 girl.
I have my thoughts but since I barely raced this year I really shouldn't chime in. Let's hear it!

“Sometimes if you want to see a change for the better, you have to take things into your own hands.”

Dave Cote realy dedicated himself to the sport I do not think he missed a race or a practice. All of his training really paid off as he got way faster and there was no one faster in the last 2 straights all year.

Codey Albretsen in 16x has progressed a lot this year. He had a tough time up in the ABQ but ROCKED the fall Reno race.

I have 2 suggestions (and I second Brent's nominaition)
1. Derrick King - Hard to beleive that he keeps getting faster...
Can't wait to see what 2011 brings for him!
2. Brent Barton - I used to beat him as a novice and now he's runnin' with the big boys in Expert!
Plus, he's cool enough to be an emoticon!

+ 1
Dave has made a lot of progress. He seems to get faster and smoother every race.
Brent has been on fire this year as well. However he has been on fire all year. It's hard to make a lot of improvement when you are so close to the top.
I don't have any other real suggestions for the most improved racers. I spend way too much time concentrating on my kids and stressing about my own races to be able to form an intelligent opinion on others improvements.

Over on the Bryan Oblad Thread, Bruce posted a pic from the year-end awards ceremony that Utah BMX did every January for the end of the season back in the 80's. Not sure when that stopped, but the awards were (and who might have won them this year):
District #1 boy( Ut only had one district back then-with about 2000 in it!): Tyler Baker, Hunter Brown
District #1 girl: Rylie Edwards, Brighton Alvey
District #1 Cruiser: Chris Clift, Ethan Alvey
(District #1 Girl Cruiser ?not a class back then): Rylie Edwards, Brighton Alvey
Team of the Year: Extreme Team
Male Rider of Year: Robby Patterson or Jack Kelly (lot's of candidates there)
Female Rider of Year: Brooke Oblad or Heather Allred or Brenlee Fordham
Most Improved Male Rider of year: Brent Barton - oh wait, he can't even balance in the gate - so then Chris Clift.
Most Improved Female Rider of year: Aliyeah Berringer
I think there might have been a track of the year (we had a lot more of them then) and a bike shop award too, can't remember.
Current people in the scene who've won those awards include John Alvey, Dallas Edwards, Heather (Taul) Edwards, Bryan Oblad, Dave Park, Kris Park, and probably more
