Just wanted to say how proud I was of all the Utah riders at the grands! I had more fun watching this year than I have had at the grands in many years..
I had a great race weekend, I only lost 1 lap. Yep the semi where I spun out in the gate and went over the bars..LOL..pretty funny I must say! BUT I rode hard all weekend and didn't feel at all bad about the OTB race. After Brody Spott won 8&under cruiser I COULD NOT have won the overall #1 title anyway....
But after many questions through facebook, text messages etc.... NO, I did not hit the gate ... I spun out..which caused me to go over the bars..... And I dont over think my gate start.. I try and do the same gate every time...... I had a race in 2007 where I had the "easy" semi and didn't try 100% out of the gate and it bit me in the rearend!... I said never again... I try and race every lap the same..100%.. If you watched my motos at the grands you might have noticed I jumped the 3rd straight decision maker every moto I raced.....and no I didn't try to hard..I know I didnt try any harder than I did in the 2 ROC mains and the 41+x main at the grands...and I didnt spin out in those races....so it was just one of the variables that you can't explain... THATS RACING...
I had a super fun year..... I have zero complaints...how could I complain... I lost 1 lap on 20(Roseville) and 1 lap on cruiser(grands semi) the entire year....I didn't put that much effort into it as you might have noticed based on the amount of local races I showed up for..LOL.... so please don't tell me you are sorry when you see me..there is nothing to be sorry about... I'm happy with 2010 and looking forward to making another statement in 2011..
ANYWAY, All the Utah riders should be dang proud of themselves for their performances at the grands... I was impressed!
Good Luck in 2011 ! I think it just might be an Extreme year
Grands :)
Re: Grands :)
It was great to get a chance to see all of the Utah racers shine on such a huge stage. Unfortunately thing don't always work out the way we think they should. I always enjoy watching you race TP. You have an awesome first straight and your skill on the entire track is incredible. Hopefully we will get a chance to see more of it at the locals this year.
Congratulations to all of the other utah racers on your races that weekend and all year. You all do such a great job of showing the world where the best BMX racers are coming from. It won't be long and I'm sure we'll see some local racers on the podiums of some big races. Cody Kelly, Danny Patterson, Brooke Oblad to name just a few. Keep up the good work and you will be right there with the best in the world. I look forward to seeing some more world champions, and olympic gold medals coming home to Utah in the near future.
