cody tippitt's dad

Postby stippitt » Wed Dec 02, 2009 12:28 pm

To the Kelly family, Just wanted to let you know exactly what happened at the grands. Mark, I dont know if you recall but I congradulated Jack and yourself after the win and you told me you would probably see me in Reno.I was standing up near the gate when the race started and did notice Jack come over pretty hard and recall saying outloud "he came over", but did'nt go protest. If i had intentions of protesting I would have done it right then. After the race I was told there was an issue with the judges on the 30ft rule on Cody's race. At that point I walked over to the scorers table and simply asked if there was a 30 ft violation on the 6x race. Before I could even finish my question he said "we're looking at that one right now" and within seconds the anouncement came down. I can only imagine how badly you guys must feel. We truly feel for your family and most of all for Jack. My family and I have been involved in bmx for many years and have never been involved in any type of contraversy of any kind and have never protested a race for any reason. We were thrilled with Cody getting nag 2 and had no intentions of taking nag 1 from Jack. Its only natural people assume the worst and I understand that. Again, we feel for you guys. Jack seems to be a really sweet kid and he is an awesome rider. I hate that it went like it did.

Thank you for coming over to let us know your side of the story. It probably took a lot for you to come on here in such a calm respectful manner after some of the comments posted on the other thread. I just wanted to let you know the comments I posted in that thread weren't specifically directed towards you. I have just seen people at several races throwing fits because their kid got cut off in a turn, or cheated in some other way. I know there are people out there that refuse to come to grips with the fact that there might be someone out there better than their child.

I apologize if I offended you with my comments in the other thread, and would like to wish you and your family the best of luck in your future BMX endeavors.

However just because I know him personally "JACK KICKS ALL".

Disclaimer: AKA of "Snappy" has nothing to do with my ability to snap a gate. It has everything to do with the sound bones make when the break. Don't ask, it's a touchy subject.

I haven't had a problem Cody or his Dad, they seem like really nice people. As far as the controversy goes. A week after the Grands last year they moved Cody in front of Jack after a simple phone call was made to the ABA. This is what Curtis was talking about on another thread.
Frankly I've had my fill of this years Grands, Time to start working on next years.

In all honesty i have never been a huge fan of the 30 ft rule but i come from racing in the 70's and 80's it was always whoever had the lead had the right to move where they wanted thats bmx and that's how guy's won nationals coming out of gate 8 they got the snap and moved with that being said..........Well said Mark let's start lookin forward to next year and forget about the crap that is gone and let's just move on. we know he'll kill it all season long no matter what nag # he has....he is still the fastest 6 ex out there hands down.
