TO for Tooele

Postby mervin » Sun Sep 27, 2009 2:20 pm

O.K. folks let's clear the air a liitle I was asked several times last night if I was going to be the new TO @ Tooele well here is what I know so far......I talked with Darrin And his boss Mark last week and told them i wanted to take it over and expressed some of my ideas and concerns. as of last wednesday i heard that there are more than just arlene and myself that is interested in running the track which is fine. i stepped up just so we could have this track open next season i didn't want next season to come around and nobody had stepped up and we lose a track that would not be good for our bmx community. i have always wanted to run a bmx track and i think that this track would be a great one to do so. so long story short nothing is official as of yet but i'm hoping to be the new TO next season but it's still up to the county. Thank you to all who have offered to help next season if i get the job. with the number of people who want to help i think we could make a real good go at this thing.....

Thanks for your support,
Micheal Ervin

I sure hope you get it!
It would be nice to keep it run by racers.

When we made the split in 04' coming out of the last corner into a rythem or dub section, I ran the "water jump" idea past Darrin. I wanted to get a big kiddie pool & put it in one of the gaps & fill it before every race. It wasn't looked upon as a good idea, too messy or something like that.
I also came really close to stacking some haybails on the 2nd dub, pouring gas on them, lighting them on fire & jumping them. It would of made for some good pics but that never came about either.

IN 01' or 02' there was actually a bridge down the 2nd straight, once on top of it, it curved towards the starting hill, curled under going south then picked up the 3rd straight. It looked good on paper but it never worked out & didn't flow. That track layout was almost the death blow to DP as nobody raced it.

Steve,
I can't do anything about that i'm not the TO.....as my post stated the county has to make a decision as to who will run it or if anyone will run it........yes i am a candiate but that does not mean i'll get it.

+10000000
I may look a little goofy with my clipless flippers and a snorkel attached to my helmut until I learn how to jump like the rest of you.

Good times for all.

O.K. boy's and girls after talking with Mark and Darrin it seems like the T.O. for Tooele is not going to happen for me it's just way to much for me to handle at this time with the new team and trying to get the product and biz off the ground. So with that being said I have decided not to run the track next season. So scud if you are reading this give me a call and i'll give you the rundown if you are still interested in the position.......or anyone else who might want to take it over.
