That is great to hear you had a fun year and are looking to hit some more nationals.

To answer your questions:
#1 Is it worth the drive out and back, do they put on a nice race ?The drive is worth it, only about 8 hours each way. With the price of fuel coming down it makes it even more worth it. Also you can still find airfare for under $200 per person.
The Reno race has one of the best atomospheres of any event as it is in a nice arena and there is always a lot of excitement in the air. You WILL enjoy it.

#2 Approx how many moto's ?
Reno is one of the larger nationals and has had close to 400 motos but it to be just under 300.

#3 Appreciate the info shared on accomodations, how about security of things while there ?
Just like anywhere you need to keep track of your things but security should be the least of your concerns. Other accomodations to consider is the Holiday Inn about 4 blocks away from the arena. The Grand Sierra is best for the whole family. I like the Silver Legacy if you are travelling with an over 21 crowd.

I have been going to Reno since they built the arena in 1987 and it is one of the few I usually try to make.

Now you know so start booking your rooms and get preregistered so you dont have to stand in line.

The Reno race in august was a lot of fun and definitely worth the drive. If the weather is good, the drive isn't bad at all. Of course Northern Nevada in January might not be so good.

We're staying at the Grand Sierra, I think most everyone else is too. There's a lot more to do there, although you wont' have a lot of spare time. There's usually a lot of security at any of the hotels that also have a casino. We stayed at the Holiday Inn, which is now the Reno Plaza or something like that. It's close,clean, cheap, and secure, but doesn't have much to do for the kids.

I think they had about 320-330 motos last year in the fall race, the winter one is probably similar. 7N will probably have 8-16 riders, so probably no semi's.
