i will for sure be at this one. i had no idea he passed away till sunday. Bob was a awesome guy for sure. he helped me get into bmx the first time back in the early 90's. then hooked us up with a key to the track so we could ride when we wanted as long as we pulled weeds and stuff

Those are the stories we need to hear about Bob. Thanks ccowley!

I would like to gather up short stories/memories of Bob. If any of you have a story or two about Bob or even any pictures, please send them to me. I would like to use them for something special we have planned for the race.

Thanks,
Steve

We would like to help

Postby jcritchfield » Tue Feb 12, 2008 8:13 pm

Steve,

Mike will be at the race this weekend after surviving cancer three times, losing his mother in September to cancer he is coming back. After spending time in Palos Verdes surfing he is going to be in Utah at this race and would like to donate to the cause to help Kris and others out. He is willing to give 1,000 but he wants to be listed as a sponsor. So if you will accept the donation and list DOPE BMX as a sponsor let me know.

Janet & Mike

I hope I don't jinx myself.... but

I am not scheduled to be out of town the week before or after our next indoor weekend, so I am DEFINITELY planning on attending the races!

I'll be there with a webcast, video camera, and MAYBE a bike :]

who knows, miracles can happen, right? :D

In case you were on the fence about attending this race, let me give you the final reason for attending:

I will be donating a UtahBMX.com T-shirt :D

There are only a few of these in existence, and this is your chance to score of these babies!

A listing of all of the cool prizes will be up soon so check back for it.

That "floaty thingy" that Jonas is talking about is going to be one of the most sought after prizes of the raffle

Steve, thanks for all your efforts in putting together this Bob Lunak memorial race.

Also, thanks to those who took the time to put together all those picture boards, they were really cool to see.

Hopefully Bruce will post his pics of the raffle winners and post. I want to know who to hit up about taking me down to Lake Powell :)

I just wanted to thank everyone for making the first ever Bob Lunak Memorial Race such a great success! We raised just over $1200.00 which is a lot more than we ever expected. A committee that will include Kris and Dave Park will now detrmine how the funds will be best utilized. We will be sure to post updates on this project to show how the fund is being used to help racers and the local program.

It was a special day for those of us who were friends and family of Bob's. The Lap of Respect was one of the most moving moments of my life and as any of the other old schoolers can attest to, we felt Bob's spiritual presence.

Bob, you will always be in our hearts and minds. Thank you for all that you did. R.I.P.

THANK YOU EVERYONE for coming out to the race and supporting a worthwhile cause :D :D :D

Take care and see you at the outdoor in May!

Very cool! We weren't able to make it so I watched the video that was posted of it. The lap of silence was amazing and moving (and I don't even know Bob), the racing was awesome. Way to go Steve and Rad Canyon!
