NBL Grands Results

Louisville Kentucky 2005

Because of the hurricane, everyone was worried about the weather but it turned out to be dry and nice. The track, however, had been very wet several days before and they had to roll it a lot. That left no lips on any of the jumps, making it a total power race.

There were not many representing Utah this year but the track was awsome and the weather was perfect!

Didn't make mains but road very well in motos

12x THOMAS BULLOCK UT 2 3 3 0

16x GUNNAR LINDSTROM UT 3 3 3 0

and former Utahn

9x NAOKI TAKAMASA OH 4 3 5 0

And in the main.....

7g ERIKA TAKAMASA OH 2 2 2 4 She not only made her main but Erika placed 4th over all !!

Elite women ARIELLE MARTIN UT 1 1 1 4

Arielle road very well. She won her motos and won both her quarter and semi, both of which were stacked, beating Kim Hayashi and Amanda Geving among-st others all weekend until the mains. She a decent pop out of the gate, got squirrelly and went clear off the track on the first strait into the soft stuff. From there, she had to fight her way back into a top position but ran out of track. Nevertheless, she felt like she was riding very well considering, and came home with 3rd overall for the season and 2400 cash. The finish between Kim and Sammy was close and fun to watch.

You can watch both Erika and Arielle's mains on ISTV and I believe there is even a free low quality version for those who are not members. It might be kind of interesting for those of you who don't race NBL to see how different the tracks can be. They have paved berms and its down hill and much more technical than what we usually see in ABA.

Thanks for the race report Lori, those are great pics of Aire. I should of said something to her yesterday but it slipped my mind.

Looking ahead I am very stoked about her finally getting the chance to race her hometown national next year, it's going to be crazy!

Thanks Bruce and Alex!

I am also excited for her to finally get to have a home race again!

She is in Japan teaching clinics and racing the Pan Pacific Nationals right now. Its been quite an experience so far. I will be glad to have her back home. :)
