If your wondering how the new steel frames rate, this is a great review from a 1st time 4130 owner.

1985, what a great year!

If you haven't rode a steel frame lately you might want to check them out. Plus, I got 8 good, hard years out of my OX Staats frame. The last aluminum frame I raced I got 10 races in & the headtube developed cracks.
I'm not saying aluminum isn't reliable, I beat my MTB really hard & I feel confident in how it's built but feather weight, disposable frames..........I would have a hard time trusting one after a few seasons if I'm a bigger, not so smooth racer.

The new Standard stuff is pretty awesome too.

To be honest, that review almost makes me wanna try one. I've never had a problem with any aluminum frame I've ever owned, but I ride crossover frames (race/trails). I know I'm not the smoothest rider out there, so I'll gladly give up a few ounces to save some strength. Maybe steel is real after all?
