I was embarrassed after I leaned over to Heather in the gate and said "who's that with all the old school Staats (as old school as Staats could be, of course) stuff on?" She looked at me like I had a third eye in the middle of my forehead and horns protruding from my helmet and proclaimed, "that's Ron!".... I think I left a rut in the track as the next couple laps I took from my jaw still being on the floor!

It was really cool to see Ron Melton taking some laps! Way to go Ron! What was even cooler was when he cleared the triple going into the first turn...

I think there are only a few of us left that use to be around when Ron was the man.

I still remember when he and Travis won the ABA Worlds in San Antonio. Travis was only 10. Great times!
