RC Racing at RAD Indoor?

I think that RC trucks topped the list of must-haves with kids this year (like always). What about holding an RC practice/race sometime this weekend? It would be fun to see the kids break out Santas goodies and fly them around the track.
Anyone else interested? If so I will try to call the powers that be this week and try to get permission...

Justin got a Power Wheels motorcycle for Christmas and thinks he'll be racing it this weekend instead of his bicycle.

That would be an awesome idea!! It was pretty cool watching those cars run around on Lindon's track when I was down there earlier in the year!
One question though, do you think most of the RC cars received as Xmas presents could handle a BMX track without breaking? I'm guessing not too many will the the "professional" type like pictured below:

If enough people bring out there RC cars and they want to race them, I am sure we can figure out how to work them into the festivities!!!! LOL

Good question Jason. It will all depend on the capability of the truck and the control of the driver. Every RC can break, but I would think that any dirt-capable RC would be fine on a BMX track. Word of warning though: if an RC truck is from a toy store or Radio Shack you might have trouble getting parts if something snaps. We went the hobby shop route for this reason.
Bennett got one of these:

One of my buddies just bought a Traxxas Revo as seen in this nutty video:

We were taking these trucks about 10 feet high and 20-25 feet long in jumps this weekend with no damage. Even when landing on the roof

Something else to think about is frequency issues.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Well, Bennett & my friend Eddie will be bringing thier trucks. Anyone else in? If you know someone either inside or outside the BMX community who might enjoy flying around the track a few times please have them come out.
Frequencies could be an issue. I would suggest we put a sign-in sheet at registration if more than two or three vehicles show. It could be like the big wheel sign up sheet, but with frequency in place of age.
This could be pretty fun to watch

Man, I almost want to go buy a cheap one from Wal-mart just so I can join in on the fun!
Maybe I'll get the big "Escalade" so I can pimp around the track
LOL

Oh trust me. I am jonesing for one as well. My son and my friend go around and have a good time with thier sicko trucks while I sit on the sidelines and watch. Talk about torture!
