Lets see BMX on the cover of SI Kids!

Postby Curtis Newkirk » Wed Sep 26, 2007 1:37 pm

In case you are not already aware, Brock Heffron (10X - NAG #2) has been nominated by Sports Illustrated Kids (SIKIDS) as Young Athlete of the Year. There were thousands of kids involved in this and it has now been narrowed to six kids including Brock. There is an online poll currently being taken where whoever gets the most votes will be on the cover. This would not only be great for Brock but would be great exposure for the sport of BMX racing to be on the cover of this mainstream media publication. There is some tough competition for Young Athlete of the Year. Soooo... I am asking everyone to go to the website below and place your vote for Brock. Tell all your friends to go and vote for Brock as well.

http://www.sikids.com/2007/sifk/09/24/youthaoy.voting/

On Sunday, Brock was playing in a football game and severely broke his arm and dislocated his elbow while scoring a touchdown. He went through surgery yesterday and is now at home healing. Downtime for Brock is six months because of the severity of the break. This obviously kills his goal of NAG #1.

Brock is an awesome kid who is fierce on the track, but one of the kindest, nicest kids off the track. He and Bennett are good friends and he is a great example of the way a kid should behave. It is a true shame that this happened, but we all know that injuries in sports happen.

Anyway, please vote early and vote often!

excellent tip Curtis!

This would be great exposure for BMX racing. Brock is running a close second right now, with 1st and 2nd being WAY ahead of the rest of the pack.

So, click on the link and vote for Brock.

Thanks Greg!

FYI: Brock was in third yesterday with 12%, while the kid in the lead had 56%. Now Brock has 35% and the other kid 39%. Mind you, the other kid has quite a story as he only has one arm, but I am still pulling for Brock to win!

Anyone read the disclaimer @ the bottom of the results window???

"This poll is not scientific and reflects the opinions of only those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The results cannot be assumed to represent the opinions of Internet users in general nor the public as a whole."

And your point is????

Must be worried about the internet being offended and filing suit!

Everyone needs to keep voting on this. You can vote multiple times, just not too close together.

Voting goes until Friday, so keep doing your part to promote BMX. Lets get this kid on the cover!

Brock is up currently by about 900 votes, but it could slip fast if others decide to make a last minute push.
