Deseret Peak BMX news. 2-27-07

Now that the indoor season is officially over I think it's time to turn our attention towards Deseret Peak (Tooele) BMX.
I called Diana tonight & we had a very nice conversation. Even though she won't be involved with running the track this year, she is very excited about this upcoming summer & so is Darrin.
- Their schedule is almost set & will be posted up here as soon as it is set.
- As soon as the snow goes away & you can walk on the track without getting muddy, Darrin would like to schedule a track day to come out, clean up weeds, fill in pot holes & do anything else that needs attention. I told Diana that I would be more than happy to rally a group to help out, yeah, that means you out there reading this!
- She also said that she would be more than happy to give a "class" in how to do sign ups (I inquired). In the past there has been a few that volunteer to help out doing so, Karen Spencer & Pam Kelly come to mind but I think it would be great if some of us take it upon ourselves to get schooled in doing that task so more people are capable of helping out if the need arises. I'm in.
- Now I didn't fully ask the question but it sounds like somebody from the County is going to be trained in actually doing the signups &/or being the T.O. This is really no big deal as the track plans on having a race season this year so who actually is the T.O. is no biggie to me.
- I offered my help to give the track a makeover this year, mainly re-doing the 2nd straight & the last straights. I'd still like to see a decision maker on the last straight. Any ideas out there? Post up what you would like to see.
- It would be nice to see D.P. get volunteer help BEFORE R.C. starts on their rebuild just for the fact that once RC starts, nobody seems to want to go out to DP & help. Over the past years I remember it's been me & Darrin, or the Hardys or the Kellys, ect. That was great in itself but if DP could get just ONE good weekend to do all these things with a big group of volunteers, that track could be up & running the next weekend. Just a thought.
Anyways, I thought everyone would appreciate the news coming from Tooele, stay tuned.
