My kids have been racing now for a couple of years. I had tried cruiser before, but racing against people like Steve Spencer as a newbie is not that much fun. So...since I was already supposed to be at the Grands, I figured "why not". I signed up and raced a 20" for the first time in 26 years. Matter of fact, when I left the current ABA VP, BA Anderson, & I used to race against each other in San Antonio. Its always fun to see old faces again, but I digress. I borrowed a bike, got in three practice laps, and then had the time of my life.
I had an awesome time. It was such an incredible rush and I felt so young and irresponsible. The 36+ Novie class had 18 riders and I got to make my semi and finished 5th just off the bubble. *I am now hooked* What made me realize this was that I was really mad I did not make the main.
So...expect me to start asking a lot of stupid newbie questions from time to time. I am great with little kids bikes, but I am not that knowledgable about little kids bikes made for adults.
I want to thank all of you who were there for making my first race in 26 years such a blast. Thanks to all of the new friends I have made and I look forward to growing in this sport...again...in the coming years.
I am hooked...

I am so glade to hear that you are going to be racing! The 36&over class is growing, which makes me very happy to know that I now have a class! I am so glad that I am not the only "old man" that is getting into it! I hope to see you race this weekend!

A sign of a good race, is one that you cross the finish line, on your bike!!

it's about time!
Like I said in anouther thread, I'd love to see the 28+ novice class get up to semis at the local races. It is such a blast to ride with a pack of no-skilled over-the-hill slow-pokes. We weave....we bop.....we fall down........all the while laughing our heads off.
I look forward to lining up wit ya.
