Top Secret Pics! New Staats Cruiser Spotted!

Postby J Gallo » Fri Jul 23, 2004 8:16 am

So I'm out at RAD canyon last nite taking pics, and I notice this beautiful blue Staats cruiser. After drooling over the bike a few minutes, I realize it's being ridden by Staats' own and track builder extraordinaire Steve Spencer! He was out test piloting his new creation. Here's the pics and I'll let Steve reply about why this bike is so special!

A couple notes about the pics: In the gate pics, to Steve's right is Utah's Girl Pro Arielle Martin and to his left a few gates down is Utah's BMXHEX rider Travis Healey.

Oh, and did I mention that Steve had just gotten clearance from the doctor the day before to start riding again? Great to see you back on the track Spence!

Thanks for posting the pic Jas'!
Well, what makes this bike so special is that up until this point, Staats has only made aluminum frames for samller riders (up to an expert XL with the exception of the few Pro AL complete bikes we built). We are just starting to test the prototype aluminum frames for larger riders (Pro 20, Pro XL 20, Pro XXL 20, Pro 24 and Pro 24 XL) and I got mine built up first :D The frame pictured is a Pro XL 24 with double butted tubing. We also have a Pro 24 frame with straight gauge tubing that we will test. We are experimenting with different tube types to verify the effects of the handling characterisitcs, durability and weight. I cant divulge too much information but I can tell you the bike rides "SWEET"! Be on the look out for Jeremiah Fazio riding a prototype Pro 20.

See you at the track,
Steve
