Jason is there anyway that you guys can change the date to a week earlier or later I know its a lot to ask and I know its not likely. But from September 6 to the 10 I'm sposed to be in Cali for football. I guess if you can't change it I'll have to choose I'd probably choose the state finals but if you can it would be great. Thanks

We'll have to shorten our trip to Disneyland but it will be worth it.

I feel your pain Chris. This is the second year in a row that it is on kickoff weekend for the NFL. I really doubt it will change to the week earlier because 1) It is Labor Day weekend & 2) It is the Reno national.

Good thing the Dolphins will open the season on Thursday, kicking the crap out of the defending chUmps! 8)

Dolphins fan eh Lee I'm a Packers Fan and it looks like the Packers play the Dolphins on October 22 @ Miami. But anyway at this point in my life right now BMX is more important to me than a football game I'm going to go talk to my coach on Monday and let him know I'm not going to be able to play in the game vs Helix High School. I feel kinda bad but like I said BMX is more important to me than one football game. My dad is thinking of making this up to me by taking me to Atwater California for the Redline Cup Finals since I've already qualified for it and I will still get to go to California So ya I would definetly go to Cali for BMX. Well haha I guess thats enough right now I'm watching the World Cup England and Portugal I can't get enough of the World Cup its Great.

may i make one sugestion before this race happens. Get better awards then last year because the ones last year were these kinda dumb plaques that they gave out to EVERYONE!! it didn't matter if you got 1st or didn't even make the main. Everyone all got a plaque with just a little sticker satying what place you got. or if you didn't make the main it said state championship participant. Now if you want to hand out plaques give them to the ones who didn't make their main event. But for the riders who qualfied give them a cool trophy. Have them be the size they would at a normal triple point race. You should've seen the trophies idaho falls handed out last year at both the SCF and the SC-pre race those were sweet trophies. i hope you take this into consideration when picking the award.

I don't mean to start anything however, guest RAD does alright by getting nice awards to the riders that was something different and I think pretty cool! Now if you would like why don't you become a board member and you can decide what to hand out.
Also I was at Idaho yes they were really nice (big) but they get a super deal through the people that make them. Like I said I'm not starting anything but, you need to look at the big picture.

Guest #1 - I agree 100%. After getting a ginormous trophy in 2004, my son was a little disappointed in the 2005 award. He shows his 2004 trophy to visiting friends all the time. I don't think he has ever mentioned the plaque. Oh, and he still does not have the little plate that tells what place it is.

Guest #2 - I agree 100%. It was different  It was also cool because I did not have to figure out where to store a ginormous trophy. Its not about me though, its about the kids and ten out of ten kids would rather have the big trophy :D

Either way, its all good and I think the board makes good decisions. Sometimes having something new and different is good.

I also think that the ABA should hand out the same color of ribbons that say "XXXX ABA Grands Participant" to everyone who goes to the ABA Grands and just bag the 7' tall trophies...

Now of course I'm being sarcastic; however, it does make an excellent point. For many local kids, who never get to race outside of Utah or don't even know what a national even is, the State Finals is probably the biggest and most important race they will go to. I think any hosting track of its State Finals should reward winners and main makers rightfully with a good looking and impressive trophy. Kids are excited to get trophies that are taller than them! I remember when I was small thinking how cool that was.

Now for the other issue (sorry this is off topic, but this must be said). Clearly Guest #1 isn't a standing member in the Rad Canyon board; Guest #1 is most likely a member of the board's audience, the BMX family, racer, whatever you want to call it. Do not, and I repeat DO NOT, hold it over someone's head, no matter who or what you are, that their opinion basically doesn't matter because they are not a member of the Rad Canyon Board, or becuase they don't volunteer or help out at the track! I'm going to speak for Guest #1 in saying that everyone needs to be open and accepting of other's opinion, ideas, constructive criticism, and suggestions in any manner that they are communicated! SHEEZZZ! Anyway, rant over.

I'm with Guest #1, bring back the big ones!!! Bigger and Badder (than Idaho) in '06?!!!

Exactly! I think, out of all Bennett trophies or awards, the 2004 State Champ trophy is his most prized award. Why? Because it is bigger than even his 1st and 2nd place trophies from nationals - cooler too! He does not view that as his biggest accomplishment, but still, look at the SIZE of that thing! I will also bet that getting that trophy meant a lot more to him than anything that has happened since. It really pushed him to try even harder the next year. He was okay with the plaque, but that big 2004 trophy is still his favorite.

I am not trying to bash the decision for plaques last year at all. Heck, there were probably a lot of parents that had been around a while who really liked the concept. But we gotta think about the kids and the kids really want something that shows thier accomplishment.

Here's something else to chew on.

The State Championship Series is something we have always taken very seriously! Depending on your particular situation as far as who your competition is, it can be really really tough to win the Championship!!!

Given the fact that one must do well over the course of the series in order to win the Championship. Or, do well in as many battles as possible so you don't have to win the final battle to win the war. I think the big trophy and the top step on the podium ought to go to the one who wins the war.

With the exception of the tie breaker rule and triple district points, the SCF is just one race in the series and worth the same amount of points as the others! Yea, give the winner of the final a nice plaque cause he/she won that particular battle, but the Champion ought to get ALL the cool stuff.

After the bag gets shreaded, you sell the car/truck you stuck the sticker on and the plate you never ran gets lost/trashed, the Champion still has that trophy to show off and remember how damn hard it was to win it!!! Maybe even when they're 50!!!

Thanks for listening!!!

I am sure they are doing the best they can, but don't get upset and overworked on here, make a change and talk to a board member! Look into trophys and make a donation to the purchasing of them! There is no need to get frusterated about this...lets do some research and see what we can do as a Utahbmx family to help

I spoke with Ron this evening and it sounds like the big trophy days may return. :D

As far as donations go: I plan to watch $90 fly out of my wallet in entry fees that weekend. That ought to cover it ;)

I'm sure everyone will be pleased with Ron's choice for this year.
