gearing for outdoor

Postby Inglis » Tue Jun 06, 2006 9:14 am

Can anyone tell me what gears to run on a pro cruiser for the outdoor track. My husband is just getting back into racing and this will be his first time back on the outdoor track in a long time.

Also gearing for a six year old beginner riding a flight mini.

Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you Heather Inglis

Heather
It seem like a 41 x 18 for a pro cruiser is one of the best gears to run. If you are running 1.75 tires.
As far as the little one goes I have seen a lot of kids running the 38 x 14.
If you have any other questions you can catch me at the vending trailer at the track.

Two Heathers! Oh no, this might get confusing...

Heather I. - I agree with Heather H. on the cruiser. Thats exactly what I run.

With the six y/o the 38/14 is definitley an option. Others would be 41/15 or 43/16. With any of these gears your little one should do fine. They are all going to be close in the overall ratio so I would run whatever you happen to have available for parts.
