Past and Present Utah BMXers - 70's, 80's & 90's

Postby J Gallo » Wed Jan 18, 2006 9:37 pm

Past and present BMX'ers, we are planning to have a Reunion of sorts to get BMX'ers from the 70's, 80's, 90's and present together. A lot of racers from back in the day are already planning on this gathering taking place.
Some of the list below are getting their kids involved in BMX or racing as parents themselves.
We want everyone who has any BMX pictures or footage (super 8, VHS, Digital) to bring them along as we will make duplicates or copies for everyone to share. Unfortunately a lot of racers never had pictures or video tape of the racing days.

Kevin Sleater (70's & 80) has been in contact with Tom Perry (Perry Bros. Honda and Family Cycle Center Bike Shop in Midvale) who has duplication resources so we could all have a variety of photos and video to enjoy in the future.

Most of you will remember the "Leukemia Race for Life" which will give any oldschoolers who still think they have a bit of the BMX fire still burning within to race for the day for a $10.00 Donation to the Leukemia Society. Come out and enjoy the Top Notch Indoor BMX Facility in South Jordan at the Equestrian Center. (sorry No Concrete Racing this year).

If you have any contact information from any BMX'er from the past, send it to me at oldschoolbmxer@yahoo.com (Roland Critchfield) and I will get them on the invitation list.

Some of the crew we are already seeing, talking to or have already committed are:
Mike and Chris Connole ( 80's)
Joey May (80's, 90's, recent)
Dale Yohe (80's)
Sleater's (80's, 90's, recent)
Bret McGrath (80's)
Denny Nelson (70's 80's, recent)
Jason Stout (80's, recent)
Mike, Brian and Steve Oblad Sr. (80's, recent)
Steve Henich (Cyclers Choice Bike Shop in Holladay) (70's, 80's)
Darryl & Destry Lovato (80's, recent)
JP & Bret Scofield (80's, recent)
Troy & Kelly Davis (80's)
Fuzzy (Tim Hall) (80's, 90's, recent)
Steve Spencer (80's, 90's, recent)
Bruce Ritter (picture and magazine Guru) (80's, 90's, recent)
Tom Perry (70's 80's)
Todd Parry (70's 80's, 90's, recent)
Rob Kastelic (80's, recent)
Dave, Chris and Heidi Park (80's, 90's, recent)
Bill Brzenk and Geri Lunak (80's, recent)
Ron Duncombe (80's)
Matt Tilby (80's)
Ian Elliott (80's, recent)
Scott, Jack, Margaret and Heather Taul (80's, 90's, recent)
Dallas Edwards (80's, 90's, recent)
Bryon Wixom (80's, 90's, recent)
Shane Turpin (80's, 90's)
Lots more...
My goal is to get 50+ oldschoolers at the "Leukemia Race for Life" ($10.00 donation, no membership required to race that day)

We will be renting some scanners so we can all bring in BMX photos which will all be scanned and put to CD for everyone. Lots of people never had many pictures but there are some of us with a bunch to share.

Once again, if you have any way (telephone, address, e-mail, etc.) to get in touch with any BMX'er from the past, please send the contact information to me at oldschoolbmxer@yahoo.com

Looking forward to seeing all of our old BMX friends and families getting
together for some catching up and maybe a little riding for old times...

Looking forward to hearing from and seeing everyone soon.

Also....

If possible, we would like to let them know that we are getting together at Salsa Leedos Mexican Restaurant on 9100 South Redwood Rd. in West Jordan shortly after the races Saturday night and we would greatly appreciate an RSVP with # of people planning on attending.
Also, does the registrant have old BMX photos/video's that could be brought to the restaurant, scanned into a computer so they could be reproduced and shared with other oldschoolers?

To RSVP for the event or the after race dinner, please fill out this form:

Hope to see everyone out and having a good time!

Hey Roland,
That is a great idea. That would be great to see some of the old timers again.
I have not seen Tom Perry for years, I worked at his shop in the early 80's when you raced for them.
I will look forward to it.
Mike
