Warning and problems for all indoor racers!!!!!!!! Urgent!!!
Ok we have had a great weekend of racing! However we have a serious problem going on at the Salt Lake county Equestrian Center!!!!
We have had the girls bathroom trashed in the past.
This Friday we had some kids pull the fire alarm and we have incurred a $250 fine. Rad Canyon cant pay this bill all the time nor will the county allow this to go on!!!!!
Now today we found graffitti in the boys bathroom and the county is very upset!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS CANNOT CONTINUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If we cannot keep control of the children the county wiil not let us back in the building!!!!!!!!!!!!
We Have been warned if it conitues we will not be invited back!!!
So we need to know who pulled the fire alarm!!! The county wants action!
I need to knwo the names of who did it please call me at 860-9357 and we will talk to them.
We need to know who did the Graffitti
Why do a few people want to ruin it for the rest of us? We need everyones help to police the problems.

Hey Jason,
I feel that the parents just shouldn't be sitting on their rears! Sure you want to watch all the races however, if you have little ones just running around on there own they will get into some kind of trouble! So PARENTS watch YOUR KIDS! I know as a parent that I love going to the indoor tracks where it is warm and watch my son and everyone else race and have a great time! So please everyone keep your little ones close! Thanks!!

BMXer are better then this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Graffitti and trashing the womens bathroom.........What is this!!!
BMXer don't do this kind of stuff. If you are the ones doing this, you aren't a true BMXer. You shouldn't be welcome back. You are going to ruin it for the ones that are TRUE BMXer. I love this sport and it is to bad that a couple of people are going to make so we can't ride during the winter....and that sucks.

i am in shock!! i have never heard of anyone in bmx doing this kind of vandelizing
there is a good chance that someone else is coming into the building while the races re going on and doing the vandelizing. what ever the problem is i hope it can be resolved as i would really like to be able to come at race in 2 weeks
find these kids or teenagers and ban them from all other events!!!!!

We came to race at your indoor races last weekend and are very sorry to hear about the trouble you had. We just hope that all the BMXers and parents realize how LUCKY you are to have such a nice warm indoor building to hold your indoor races during the winter. We are in a semi-indoor cold but covered building and have to use port-potties. It was so nice to race at your facility!! I hope you get this resolved and get to continue to race at such a great place!!

While it may not be a BMX racer specifically, it's probably a sibling or friend. I've heard of issues at RAD's outdoor facility as well, where the bathrooms have been trashed during race days.
I would hope that this issue can be quickly resolved so we can get back in the good graces of the indoor facility management.
This comes down to parenting and respect. Respect for other people and property. All parents should be teaching their children respect. They and their children should report all disrespectful behavior. There are children running all over the place clibing all over bleachers, livestock gates, riding bikes, skidding, playing football, running into people. All adults officials or not should speak up to those misbehaving or the majority will suffer for the few.
We need to just work together as parents. All too often we see something going on that should not be and are afraid to say something as not to offend. I believe that having the ability to continue racing is important enough to not worry about offending someone. These are good kids and will probably respond well if asked kindly by an adult to behave in a respectful way in the facility. Our kids work hard to do well at this sport and they deserve to have the freedom to enjoy racing and spending time with friends in a wonderful facility. Reality is that we are all there for four hours and that leaves for a lot of idle time, especially for the kids not racing. I believe if we all do a better job at watching what is going around us these problems will greatly diminish. It is all of our responsibility to insure the safety of the building and the people in it. Lets not just sit back and wait for someone from Rad Canyon to fix it, after all this is the sport we all Love.

Problem solver Jason says:
Okay, so not a huge percent of people frequent this site. Let's really get after this issue and make sure it gets resolved. Let's let the phone tree get started. Parents, racers, everyone, let's get on the phone, ask our kids, our friend's, and find out what really happened. If this issue doesn't get resolved, we would deserve to not be invited back. Since it is our community problem, let's let our community solve it. Please, let's keep after this one until it is resolved.
Go for it, call your bmx buddies and ask about this... go on...

Jason S is right! Everyone call everyone they know who was there and ask them to question their kids.
I've noticed some of those new little ones are quite rowdy!!! We are all going to have to police this deal pretty close.
Probably ought to check the condition of the restrooms immediately upon taking possession of the building on Thursday?/Friday and point out any discrepancies to the management so we don't get the blame for something we're not doing! Maybe set up a rotating guard schedule throughout the weekend. I'd hate to think any of those horse folks are trying to sabotage the deal in there!!! Maybe even the building management/snackbar people themselves!!!

Last year I walked into the bathroom just in time to catch a few young racers (9-11ish) shoving paper into the toilets & overflowing them. I yelled at them & they left. Looking back I should of followed them to their parents PLUS grabbed the T.O. & let them discuss it.
I would recommend that at the next race weekend, have the sign-up gals hand out a flyer stating if your racer or anyone in your party is caught vandalizing or pulling the fire alarms, charges will be brought let alone being suspended by the ABA. Have the same flyer taped EVERYWHERE too, doors, sign-ups, moto sheet area, ect. Maybe even have someone at the front doors handing them out so every person who walks through knows what's going on.
Dan has a good idea about looking at the facility & checking it out before people arrive on Thursday.

Lots of good ideas. Someone could walk through with a county person with a checklist and/or a digital camera and document the condition of the building, an do the same when checking out. Policies proceedures posted are both exceelent ideas. Turning vandals over to track authorities another good idea. Parents helping police offenders another excellent ideas. The announcer could also make comments. Sat riders were skidding bikes right behind the announcer with their parents watching.
