DONT LOOK FOR THE NEGATIVES....BE POSITIVE:)

Postby PEDDLEPUSHER » Wed Sep 15, 2004 4:56 pm

THANKS STEVE FOR A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE ON SOME OF WHAT HAS BEEN POSTED HERE YESTERDAY IN PARTICULARLY.

LET ME SAY THAT I WAS SOMEWHAT SADDENED THAT THE PERSON WHO WAS WILLING TO SHARE THE FEELINGS THAT THEY HAD FOR BMX HERE IN UTAH, AND AT RAD CANYON IN PARTICULAR WAS SO SEVERLY CHASTISED FOR SIMPLY NOT ASSIGNING HIS OR HER NAME TO THEIR OPINION. MY QUESTION IS, DOES THAT MAKE IT LESS OF AN OPINION, OR LESS IMPORTANT TO THAT PERSON OR SOME OF US WHO LOOKED FOR THE MESSAGE OF HOPE AND PROGRESS AT OUR BELOVED RC?
I AM REMINDED THAT MANY OF THE GREATEST LITERARY WORKS AND POETRY OF ALL TIME WERE WRITTEN BY "AUTHOR UNKNOWN".
I"M SURE THAT WE WOULD NOT ASK FOR THOSE WORKS TO BE DELETED FROM SOME OF OUR CHILDRENS BOOKS, OR STRICKEN FROM OUR LIBRARIES NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN. WHAT WAS SAID WAS ONE PERSONS OPINION, JUST AS YOU HAVE JUST DONE, AND I AM NOW DOING. I COPIED AND READ THAT POSTING NUMEROUS TIMES, AND EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS SOME NEGATIVE PASSAGES, THERE WAS MORE TRUTH THAN FICTION IN MUCH OF WHAT THE WRITER SAID.

STEVE, YOU ARE TRULY AN ELDER STATESMAN OF BMX HERE IN UTAH, AND AN AMBASSADOR OF ALL THAT IS GOOD IN BMX HERE AS YOU TRAVEL AND SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE BMX SCENE HERE IN OUR STATE. YOU ARE TO BE COMMENDED, AND HAVE MY PERSONAL THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE AND ALL THAT YOU WILL DO.

IF I MAY EXPRESS MY THOUGHTS ABOUT SOME OF WHAT YOU HAVE SAID TODAY. I THINK THAT LINKING RAD AND TWIN PEAKS IS A MISTAKE SIMPLY BECAUSE RAD IS A RESIDUAL OF TWINS IMPENDING FAILURE, BUT A MONUMENT TO THE TENACITY AND DRIVE OF THE BMX COMMUNITY HERE IN UTAH. I THINK BACK TO THE DAY WHEN WE MET WITH THE COMMISSIONER, THE NEIGHBORS WHO WANTED US GONE, AND THE 250 BMXERS WHO WOULDNT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. IF THEY WERE TO TEAR DOWN TPSX, IT WAS NOT GOING TO BE WITHOUT A FIGHT...........A FIGHT WHICH WE WON, SO WALLA.....RAD CANYON BMX WAS BORN. WE ARE HERE NOW BECAUSE OF THE VISION THAT SOME PEOPLE HAD IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY, AND BECAUSE WE CAME TOGETHER AND GREW STRONG IN DOING SO.
RAD CANYON BELONGS TO EVERY CHILD, YOUNG AND OLD, AND WILL FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. EVERY PERSON WHO HAS LIFTED A SHOVEL, RAKED AND WATERED, OR SIMPLY SAT IN THE STANDS AND CHEERED FOR THEIR FAVORITE RACER, HAS PUT THEIR MARK ON THE GREATEST BMX FACILITY IN THE WORLD. THATS A FACT, THERE ARE NONE BETTER.....ANYWHERE!!!!!!
IM HOPING THAT WHATEVER THE OUTCOME OF THIS T.O. CONTROVERSY, COMES A HEALING AND A COMRADERIE THAT WILL TAKE RAD CANYON AND ALL OF US TO THE NEXT LEVEL OF EXCELLENCE. WE HAVE SET THE BAR VERY HIGH, NOT ONLY FOR OTHER TRACKS BUT FOR OURSELVES, AND NOW THE CHALLENGE IS TO RAISE IT EVEN HIGHER AND WE NEED TO BE UP TO THAT CHALLENGE. I KNOW THAT WE ARE:)
PLEASE JOIN WITH ME IN SUPPORTING OUR CURRENT T.O. AND HIS STAFF, AND HAVE FAITH IN THEM THAT THEY WILL ONCE AGAIN MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS BASED ON SOUND JUDGEMENT, AND GOOD, COMMON SENSE. DURING THE TIME THAT DAVE HAS BEEN T.O. HE HAS ALWAYS EXHIBITED THAT QUALITY AS DID THOSE BEFORE HIM, SO I FOR ONE PLEDGE MY SUPPORT TO HIM AND HOPE YOU WILL DO THE SAME.
I LOVE THE SPORT OF BMX...........WE ALL DO:)

PLEASE DO NOT BE OFFENDED THAT I DO NOT SIGN MY NAME, AND PLEASE DON'T BE OFFENDED BY ANY OF WHAT I HAVE SAID. IT TRULY COMES FROM MY HEART, AND IT MATTERS NOT WHO I AM.

RIDE HARD:)

Dang!! I missed it!! deleted posts that is.

I personally don't mind if someone doesn't feel like putting their name to an opinion.

I know how hard people can be on someone and can take things the wrong way and it turns into bad feelings. I have no problem agreeing to disagree. (right bnd) I have no problem with someone telling me they don't like something I did or didn't do. I have enough respect for others to realize someone can disagree with me and thats ok!! nobody has to be right or wrong.

I believe this post was ment to just see what everyones opinion was. not that any of us have any say in what happens. just to have a little friendly chat about it. I know most of the people who posted and I know they were not intending to hurt anyones feelings.

Again, I'm sure it will all work out in the end, keep the faith baby!!! TP

I guess I should clarify a little.

I have no problem with any post that someone would not want to put their name on. I don't understand it, but I can respect it. I would NEVER remove a post solely because someone wouldn't sign their name. In fact, up until yesterday I encouraged it.

The only posts I feel compelled to remove are those posts that only flame certain people or groups BECAUSE OF their anonymity, and don't offer an overall opinion.

I want this to be an OPEN forum, for everyone. I will only remove a post if I'm given no choice. And unfortunately last night that happened. Hopefully after changes at RAD are complete, we can all get back to POSITIVE ideas and suggestions to enhance the Utah BMX scene.

As always, my "door" is always open to discuss any comments or suggestions you might have.

Thanks for your support!

Hello all, Jason Melton here and I have been very quiet about what has been happening, for 3 reasons, my family is being talked about, I am on the Board at Rad Canyon and finally all facts were not in.

I will present the facts but furst a couple of points that I feel need to be made.
1) non of the people posting on this board want or wish for the demise of a track and to say that about someone is way over the line

2) as long as someone supports this track or any track with their hard earned dollars they have the right to voice their opinion what ever it may be. Whether they actually volunteer or not makes no difference. We all have the right to be involved in this sport in a manor in which we choose.

3) We all have the right to post without signing our names, however personal attacks against someone without that person not knowing who the accuser is that is hard for someone to defend themselves against.

Now to the facts
Dave Halladay is stepping down as track director at Rad Canyon. He has chosen as his replacement Robert Anderson. Robert has been assisting Dave for the last year. The board met last night and was informed of this change.
The board will support Robert just as it has Dave and will work very hard to make the transition as smooth as possible. We appreiciate all that Dave And Tana have done!!!! They are a wonderful couple and we hope they will continue to come out and enjoy BMX!

All the memeber of the board and those that run the track greatly appreiciate those who have supported Rad, who were interested in running the track, the people who have voiced their opinions, shown concern, and offered advice. Without the caring of the you folks Rad and BMX would quickly fade away!!!

We are looking forward to having everyone out to race and to help with the track. If you are interested in helping with the track. Please let me know we are always interested in having people help.
If you have questions about this please feel free to talk to me via private message, at the track, or email.

Congrats to you Rob!

I know how many countless hours you've dedicated to trying to grow the sport of BMX here in Utah.

I just want to let you know that I will assist in any way I can to help you, RAD, and all the riders of BMX here in Utah.

Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Congratulations to Robert. I know Rob really wanted the job and I'm sure he'll do a great job.

For the record. I want everyone to know that I stayed out of this deal and I was not one of the anonymous posters on this thread. While a change of TO at Rad does directly effect me and the boys, I didn't feel it my place to say anything cause I don't live in Rad's immediate area. It certainly was interesting reading though!!!

Robby and I are off to Mountain Home. See ya!

Dan
