SLC County Fair - Entering BMX Pics

Postby J Gallo » Sat Jul 31, 2004 11:28 am

I'm thinking about trying to enter some BMX pics into SLC county fair being held on Aug 18-21 at the Equestrian Complex (current venue for RAD's Indoor) in South Jordan. I don't think I have a realistic chance of winning, but would be doing it more to promote the sport of BMX.

So, are there any pics you'd recommend? I can only enter 3, and I'm looking for pics that when kids look at them, they might say "I want to do that!". You can reply here, or email me using the contact link. The easiest way to let me know which pic is to give me the file name (ex. Img_2277.jpg), you can get this info by putting your cursor over the thumbnail.

I need to get moving on this pretty quick, they have to be turned in on Aug 14th. I'm not even sure yet if any of these pics will blow up well to the 8x10 size I need for entering. Also, the pics will have to "mounted", so if anyone has experience in this area, let me know, I've never done it before.

Thanks!
Gallo

They're Entered!

Ok, I finally decided on 3 pics to enter. I had about 10 total that I really liked, but I could only enter 3 :(

Here they are:

If you get down to the county fair in South Jordan ( Aug 18 - 21st ), keep an eye out! I won't be there until probably Saturday, so if you get there before me, let me know how they look!

The Good and Bad of it!

Postby J Gallo » Wed Aug 18, 2004 9:47 pm

Well Good and Bad news!

All 3 of my BMX pics took 1st place! I was pretty surprised and stoked to say the least! But when I started to look around, about 90% of the pics there won a 1st place ribbon. I'm still excited, but it's not like I won the "Judges Choice" award :)

No matter, hopefully it will be some good exposure for BMX!

Here's the proof!

I'm already looking forward to entering a few more in the State Fair!

Thanks for the compliment! But if I was TRULY a great promoter, I would have had a booth at the fair complete with a mini-BMX track for passer-by's to try out :) :?:

Maybe next year?

We need to set up a booth at the county fairs with trophy's, a small t.v. and something like the worlds playing on it, bikes on display and real bikers (male and female) to help pass out flyers.

We did that at the cottonwood mall, we got three new riders, maybe if we did that at a county fair....
