Anyone familiar with a bike called an Intruder
I'm thinking of buying one but, I'm not familiar with the brand. Any info or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hello,
They are made in Brazil for Intruder out of South Florida. They are mainly known in NBL as far as I know.
Anyway, bought a Pro for Colby Brown about 3 years ago cause it was a full size frame with a really short top tube. Personally, I wouldn't buy one sight unseen. I ended up with 2 frames with the same problem. The problem was the right side drop out was welded in crooked and was virtually impossible to tighten the axle nut without bending/binding the axle. I'm talking way crooked and no way to straighten!!! Very bad situation. They sent me a second frame as I said, and it had the same problem. The company (I think owned by Cubans) acted like I was crazy, even after I sent them digital pictures clearly showing the problem. I gave up on the deal after a ton of dialog with them. I know they knew they had a problem, but didn't want to admit it!!! They spouted off about how Gabrealla someone or another didn't have a problem. I bet their factory sponsored rider wasn't riding a frame made in Brazil either.
What's happening with them today I don't know. Don't know if they have corrected this problem. I don't know if that dropout issue spilled over to their other size frames. I only delt with the Pro size frame. I've only seen one other Intruder frame since and the guy was trying to sell it at Del Mar last year.
I would not buy one unless I was holding it in my hands and could check the alignment of the dropouts. They have a really twisty curvey chainstay design. The welds were cobby and the finish kind of sucked. Not saying they are bad, just beware. They may be the best thing out there now!!!
I know you won't have that problem with a Staats, Alliant, Crupi, or many of the other name brand frames.
