Sundays race, my thoughts.
- I'm pretty sure it was Jason Meltons 40th birthday Saturday(?), if so Happy birthday old fart!
- The track looked to be IMO the best layout ever. Props to Steve Spencer for the fast, semi-tech layout. I wished I was out there & it really got my juices flowing to get back on my bike.
- Hanging out with a ton of OS'ers shooting the stuff in the stands, The Tauls, Critchfield, Spencer, Mish, Hoffman, Wiberg, Parks, Mahaffey, ect.... BMX is all about hanging out with your buds & having fun, I did both Sunday.
- The 28+ inter class is fast!!
- The kid who won 28+ novice should be inter!
- I saw Sparks practicing, chased him out the side door when he left to say hi but he was in a hurry to go somewhere.............anyways, hi Mike!
- The Park bros. look to be the 2nd coming of the Andersons or the Pattersons. Check your 80's BMX history if you don't know what I'm talking about.
- Chris Clift winning 41-45 crusier holding off a charging Mike Kelly, nice job.
Anybody have anything else to add to this weekend? Feel free to chime in.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling him a bagger. The kid has got alot of skills & talent for sure. He needs to stick it to the inters now.

Re: Sundays race, my thoughts.
The park kid in the 28+ Novice had skills, but he's right where he belongs.....he bobbled hard on the rhythm section in the Main and I ran him over....of course, I got the worst of that...Wipe out!!!
If he wouldn't have lost it, I think he would have watched this 36 year old novice blow by him.....and if I was all over him...the 28+ inter would have ate him up.....of course.....a few more wins and I'll be playing with the 28+ inters myself........
FYI.....I'm not hating...that park dude got mad skills and kept me honest! But I Love good competition!!!

Re: Sundays race, my thoughts.
well I have finally caught my breath after todays races, man was that track long. I would like to give a big thanks to the crew of Rad Canyon, all the volunteers, and steve spencer for the awesome track. Plenty of jumps, big turns, and enough room to really get some pedals, I would have to say best track of the indoor season for sure.
I have to admit, that when I load my bikes in the car to head down to the city of salt I hope for a killer track, and a fun jump at the end. I was a little bummed when I walked in and didnt see a jump at the end, however that was very short lived after a few laps around that great track. Man has indoor bmx come a long way since the indoor days of Logan, those wood jumps were so awesome, yet so gnarly.
I hope that all of Utah BMX takes a second and appreciates what we have for an indoor series, were very lucky and once again thanks to everyone that makes it happen. see you all in a couple of weeks.
ps.
if anyone finds my legs let me know, I have seemed to have misplaced them in between the pro am and my cruiser main.

Re: Sundays race, my thoughts.
I want to second Jonas' appreciation for our local program and our good fortune. Without the help of our volunteers we wouldnt have the facilties, the great tracks and exciting races. It really hits me at the end of each indoor race weekend when I am tearing down the track that we just built two days prior. A lot of hard work and dedication goes into each race weekend and no one exhibits this more than our track operator Ron Melton. He is usually the first one there early Friday morning and the last one to leave Sunday night after we tear down and clean up. I am so greatful for Ron's unmatched volunteerism and all of the heart and soul he pours into our local program which is now the most successful in the country based on my discussions with the ABA. He runs a tight ship with the help of his regular support crew ofTracy Snow, Caren Spencer, Heather Edwards, Mont Allen, Jason Melton, Dallas Edwards, Roland Critchfield and I help a little bit too. There are many others too that help make it all possible and for them I am also greatful. So please, do not take our races for granted. It is a tremendous effort and if any of you out there can donate a small portion of your time to help build or tear down the track, work staging, officiate, hand out trophy slips, broom the track, sell 50/50 tickets, or any other volunteer effort we would appreciate it and you will be rewarded with self gratification knowing you helped out.
Along with my rant I want to add that is was an awesome race weekend! Tons of great races that went down to the wire and lots of comraderie and plain ol' good times hanging with friends.
Thank you Utah BMXers for another special weekend,
Steve

That was a really fun track, great job Steve, et al.
All weekend was definitely some fun, competitive racing... even though I got the honor of "caboose" for every main. I'll get over it, one day.
Tony Lemon got some video of 28+ Inter from Saturday--it's on his Loop'd page:

Re: Sundays race, my thoughts.
I would also like to thank all of the "old dude" class, they stay after the races on sunday and help tear down, it makes it go really fast and helps the rest of us get home and have a good sunday afternoon. And they do it without even being asked.
They are probably sore and tired and still put all the effort in to help. On behalf of Mont and the rest THANKS!

Amen Wes! I agree those guy's do a great job I helped a little on friday and was wiped out and these volunteers do it week after week so my big ol' cowboy hat is off to all of you guy's who continually put in the time to help build and tear down the track, Steve Spencer, Dallas Edwards, Steve Forresta, Jason Melton, Mont Allen, and there are others that i know who you are but just don't know your names (sorry) Thank You for the effort you guy's put in to our sport. And let's not forget the other volunteers that make this track run as well as it does without them we would not be the track we are, Tracey, heather, ashley, Ron, Mrs. Matt Spencer (sorry I'm terrible with names) Kim and everyone else who works behind the scenes you are all a very special part of the Utah BMX scene and we appreciate each and everyone of you.

Another amazing weekend!!!
The track was even better & everything ran well!
My only complaint is about the 28 & Over Inter class... They just keep getting faster!
Thanks to everybody who is there working hard, building the track, getting us registered, getting us in the right motos & lanes, picking us up, fixing our "divots", taking our pictures, announcing our results, giving us trophies and generally just keeping it all working!!!
We are very lucky to have such an amazing BMX scene, and I can't wait for the next race!

yes it was me. it is better to stay out of the way than to ostrisized by the local crew. thanks to the track for letting me practice.
oh and steve K there is no way to get a plate in utah. no one carries the product. it is to volatile for the community even for 50/50. you can go on line to bike alley and get hooked up or you can contact redman bikes or me directly @ dopebmx@verizon.net.
cheers
mike
oh and dude that thinks mr park deserves to be an intermidate should reconcider his position because personally if he really wants to beat you HE CAN. not hatting or anything but just evaluating, time will tell.
